The Author Visit Podcast – what a gem!

As an independent author, it’s all on me to figure out the best ways to promote my book. Whenever I find a helpful resource, I take note of it.

One such resource is the Author Visit podcast. I came across this podcast a few months ago, and have been a frequent listener ever since. Hosted by children’s book authors Shanda McCloskey and Bonnie Clark, they provide such implementable information for authors looking to do school visits.

At the end of one episode, they asked listeners to email them ideas for future episodes. I took the opportunity to email Shanda, suggesting an episode on who to approach to book author visits at schools. School principal? Teacher? Librarian? School district administrator? Shanda and Bonnie dedicated a whole episode to answering my question. To say I greatly appreciated it would be an understatement!

They’ve done so many useful episodes. Some that come to mind are the episodes on getting gigs, selling books at school visits, and determining what librarians want in an author visit.

I’ve subsequently emailed Shanda to ask various questions, and she has always been gracious enough to answer.

Doing more author visits is key for me to promote the book, so any resource that can help me make that happen is a godsend.

Thank you, Shanda and Bonnie. Keep doing what you’re doing. I salute you!
